Travail sur les caricatures (anglais)

In 1ère C and 1ère D, the sequence « Royal Britain » allowed us to focus our attention on what perception artists have had of the British monarchy from the16th century to today. Going from Holbein’s official conventional portrait of King Henry 8th as a means of propaganda to Banksy’s unconventional caricature of Queen Elizabeth II as a « Monkey Queen », the power of art has clearly changed through the centuries. The pupils’ final task was to draw the (un)conventional portrait of a member of the Royal family and here are two examples of their work.
